My girlfriend and I have been watching some Star Trek: Deep Space Nine on Netflix lately. We recently saw the episode where they introduced the new starship USS Defiant.
So we're watching the episode, and they show a close-up of Sisko sitting in the captain's seat... and the seat has an adjuster knob on the headrest. I exclaim, "that seat is from a car!"
Here's the best picture of the seat I could find online:
It looks like it's got an adjustable knee bolster too.
This episode premiered in the 1994 season, so this seat could be no newer than 1995 model year- though I doubt they raided a brand new car for a seat.
Any guesses?

The shape of those upper bolsters look very familiar, as does the way the bottom ones are sort of separate from the seat bottoms. Something Japanese? Late 80's? I can't quite pin down where I've seen that seat.

Close but I don't think it is. Headrest is different, as is the number of "panels" on the upright part.
